Fast-Casual Salad Chain Opening New Detroit Location Next Month

The fast-casual dining spot​ is best known for its fresh and healthy meals.

DETROIT — A new fast-casual dining spot, known for its fresh and healthy meals, is opening a new restaurant in downtown Detroit next month.

Sweetgreen will open its sixth Michigan restaurant at 1020 Woodward Avenue on Dec. 9. The opening day event will include sweet treats from Detroit’s own Bon Bon Bon, a live screen printing activation led by One Custom City and hot beverages from Earthy Bontanical Mobile Bar.

All grand opening day gifts and festivities will be available while supplies last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The new location will include fan favorites such as the Harvest Bowl, Crispy Rice Bowl and Miso Glazed Salmon. It will also debut a newly late Fall menu that will feature cauliflower as the star ingredient.

"Detroit has an undeniable momentum right now, and we’re honored to be part of it," Sweetgreen Chief Development Officer Chris Tarrant said. "We can’t wait to bring our take on fresh, real food to the heart of downtown and continue building these meaningful connections with regional suppliers like Zingerman’s Creamery and Riverridge Produce."

For every meal purchased on opening day at the new downtown Detroit location, Sweetgreen will donate a meal to Forgotten Harvest, which helps to fight food insecurity in the community.

The new location will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations are available for a soft opening on Dec. 5 and 6. Limited time slots are available, and guests can reserve their spot via Eventbrite.

Guests can order in-restaurant, online or through the Sweetgreen app, which also provides access to SG Rewards.
