A former Detroit Chase Bank teller has been charged with bank fraud after federal authorities said he targeted an older adult.

DETROIT — A former Detroit Chase Bank teller has been charged with bank fraud after federal authorities said he targeted an older adult, defrauding a 90-year-old man of more than $32,000.

Alan Lee Hardy, 37, is charged with bank fraud, according to a federal indictment unsealed Wednesday.

“Elders are among the most vulnerable members of our society,” Acting United States Attorney Saima Mohsin said. “They are often seen as an easy target by those who seek to take advantage of them. My office is committed to bringing those who prey on our seniors to justice“

Hardy, federal authorities allege, took at least $32,000 from the account of a man over 90 years old with a single withdrawal in August 2016. To date, the victim has received no compensation for the money taken from his account, federal authorities said.
