Former MSU Psychologist Loses License Over Nassar Abuse

The psychologist reportedly failed to report the abuse to one of his minor patients by Larry Nassar.

LANSING, MI — A Michigan State University psychologist has lost his psychology license in the wake of the abuse by Larry Nassar. State officials issued a consent order against Gary Stollak last month and he has surrendered his license. Stollak retired in 2010 and will never be able to practice again.

The Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) investigated allegations that Stollak failed to inform authorities of the suspected abuse of a minor patient by Nassar.

Stollack did not contest a finding that he violated the Public Health Code and permanently surrendered his license.

The Disciplinary Subcommittee of the Board of Psychology approved the consent order Thursday. As part of the consent order, Stollak’s license to practice psychology cannot be reinstated, reissued or reactivated at any future date.

Nassar, 55, a former Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics doctor, was convicted last year of sexually abusing girls under the guise of medical treatment and sentenced to up to 175 years in prison.
