Human Remains Found In Wreckage Of Michigan Plane Crash

The flight reportedly originated from Ypsilanti and crashed in rural northern Michigan.

OSCODA TOWNSHIP, MI — Human remains have been found in the wreckage of a plane that crashed in rural northern Michigan, according to reports.

Michigan State Police confirmed the discovery of the human remains Tuesday night, but said a positive identification had not yet been made, MLive reported.

The wreckage of the 10-passenger twin-turboprop King Air plane was found Tuesday morning in a wooded area several miles west of Oscoda Wurtsmith Airport in Iosco County's Oscoda Township, the Associated Press said. The crash scene is about 130 miles north of Detroit.

State Police said the plane was a Kalitta Air charter that originated in Ypsilanti. The pilot was believed to be the aircraft's lone occupant.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Tony Molinaro said the pilot was a 33-year-old man from Orlando, Florida, the Detroit Free Press reported.
