Wrong-Way Driver Stopped On I-75 By MSP

The woman was driving at a high-rate of speed and allegedly drunk, police said.

DETROIT, MI – A 27-year-old Ida, Michigan, woman was caught driving the wrong way on Interstate 75 early Friday morning, police said. After officers stopped the woman, they said they believed was intoxicated and she was arrested.

Officers also found a 1-year-old boy under a blanket in the back seat, police said. The child was not secured in a seat. He appeared unharmed and the officers transported him to the post.

Officers said they were notified of the woman driving south in the northbound lanes of I-75 at 4:15 a.m., Friday. Troopers were able to stop woman, who had been traveling at a high rate of speed, police reported.

Child Protective Services were notified and are currently working with troopers to find a safe location for the child, as the the driver is being processed and being lodged for pending prosecutors review. Investigation is ongoing by Michigan State Police and Child Protective Services.
