Boy, 7, Killed In Detroit House Fire: Reports

Officials were still trying to determine the cause of the fire.

DETROIT — A 7-year-old boy died after a house fire in Detroit over the weekend, according to local reports.

The fire happened at 6 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 12000 block of Rutherford Street near Plymouth and Greenfield roads, reports said.

Officials said firefighters arrived within minutes and found the house fully engulfed in flames. While extinguishing the flames, firefighters found the boy inside the home, reports said.

The boy, who suffered severe burns, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, reports said.

A woman and a 4-year-old boy were also taken to a nearby hospital, reports said.

The woman was in critical condition, while the 4-year-old boy was expected to recover after suffering from smoke inhalation, reports said.

Officials were still trying to determine the cause of the fire.

Three other people were killed and two others were injured in a separate Detroit house fire that happened Monday morning.
