Metro Detroit Snow Thursday: Breakdown, Timing

METRO DETROIT — Snow is returning to metro Detroit Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Although forecasters are not expecting the kind of snowmaker we had last weekend, it could still wreak havoc, especially on the roads, according to the weather service.

The snow should start falling around 5 0r 6 a.m. Thursday morning, impacting the morning drive, according to the weather service.

Forecasters warned drivers should be prepared for slippery roads and leave extra time in the morning.

The snow should wrap up by midday Thursday, leaving behind roughly a half-inch of fresh snow, and even up to 1 inch in some spots, according to the weather service.

The next significant round of wintry weather in the metro Detroit area comes this weekend, which also marks the beginning of a days-long cold stretch that can push wind chills 25 degrees below zero, according to the weather service.
