DETROIT, MI — Michiganders looking go rock some local apparel with pride will be excited to know a local clothing retailer is setting up shop in Detroit's Eastern Market.

Michigan-based clothing retailer GETTEES has announced they will be moving into their first official storefront at 2461 Russell Street in Eastern Market. A grand opening party will take place on at 7 p.m. Nov. 19.

Leaders say their flagship storefront will become a destination for events as well as house their creative and marketing offices, and that the move will provide an opportunity to engage with customers who can now see and feel products in person.

“After the success of several pop-ups, being engaged in the city’s creative scene, and our Detroit entrepreneurial mindset, we knew Eastern Market was a natural location. The historic district fits our mantra. We were connected with FIRM Real Estate, who helped secure a location, made sure the space was adequate to our needs and believed in a local business like us,” said Mathew Hunt, founder of GETTEES.

About GETTEES

GETTEES is not a fast fashion brand. Instead, they own and operate a brand factory that aids in revitalizing Michigan manufacturing and got its start by hiring former automotive sewers. The team sources luxury materials made in the USA and prioritizes the comfort and durability of their everyday essential products. The business can also create graphic tees and uses this as an opportunity to collaborate with bands, artists and other companies. GETTEES is committed to being transparent and honest about their production and is structured to invest in both the products and the people that make the clothing.

“With GETTEES’ passion for sourcing quality American-made materials and producing products locally they are a perfect fit for the Eastern Market. We are very excited to welcome a new shopping experience to the neighborhood,” said Megan Lewis, part-owner of DeVries & Co 1887 in Eastern Market.

The grand opening event will feature two live performances, a DJ, a made-in-USA bar, giveaways, food, drinks from local Eastern Market vendors and promotional sales. A new product, the Detroit Heritage Hoodie, will launch and become available for sale on the day of the opening party.
