As Michigan Coronavirus Cases Trend Upward, Deaths Decrease

The state on Sunday reported zero new coronavirus deaths for the first time since March. But the number of new cases keeps increasing.

MICHIGAN — Michigan health officials on Sunday reported zero new deaths attributed to the coronavirus for the first time since March. However, the state continued to see an elevated number of new cases reported, with more than 300 new cases for the fourth-straight day.

That trend seems representative of how things have changed in Michigan. In 10 days ranging from the end of May to the beginning portion of June, the state averaged about 150 more cases than during the same 10-day range at the end of June to the beginning of July.

While the state has seen an uptick in cases month to month, the opposite can be said for the number of coronavirus deaths. The state has seen a drop of about 262 deaths attributed to the virus during that time range.
