Numbers are sometimes altered as public health officials investigate individual cases. Case numbers sometimes do not match numbers provided by respective counties due to several variables, including testing done by private organizations that report to either the state or the county but not both.

Deaths are reported by health care providers and recorded by local health departments. Other data, such as the number of individuals who have recovered at the state level, are released on Saturdays.
Monday's update comes as Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Friday announced she was extending the state's stay-home order to June 12. Whitmer also extended the state's emergency declaration.

Despite the extensions, Michigan's overall coronavirus trend has been optimistic. In recent weeks, Whitmer has allowed the reopening of some economic districts, including real estate, construction and manufacturing. She recently allowed parts of northern Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula, to open restaurants, with some restrictions.
Monday's number of new cases was the lowest single day amount Michigan has seen since May 4.
