Thousands Without Power In Detroit Area Due To High Winds

DTE Energy warned there could be more outages as sustained winds reach up to 60 miles per hour through Monday.

Thousands of DTE Energy customers in the Detroit area were without power Monday due to high winds, according to the utility.

There were 7,600 outages across the Detroit area, and the utility said there could be more with winds reaching up to 60 miles per hour though Monday.

DTE said there were more than 1,000 lineman working in the field to restore power. They told people to stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines and always assume they're live. You can report downed power lines here.

There were 106,000 power outages across Michigan, with most of those in northern and mid-Michigan areas, according to Poweroutage.com.
