Michigan Reports Over 500 New Coronavirus Cases Tuesday

Michigan health officials on Tuesday also reported nine additional deaths attributed to the virus.

MICHIGAN — Michigan added more than 500 new cases of the coronavirus Tuesday as the state moved closer to 75,000 total cases of the respiratory virus.

Health officials from the state reported 573 new coronavirus cases and nine new deaths attributed to the virus Tuesday. The updated numbers bring Michigan to 74,725 total coronavirus cases and 6,135 total coronavirus deaths.

Tuesday's update comes after Michigan reported 489 new coronavirus cases Monday, adding seven new deaths. On Friday, the state reported that more than 55,000 people in Michigan had recovered from the virus.

Michigan ranks 13th in the U.S. in total coronavirus cases, according to data provided by the World Health Organization. The state ranks seventh in the nation in deaths attributed to the virus. Michigan has ranked as high as third in both total cases and total deaths at various points during the pandemic.
