Motorcyclist Dies In Tuesday Morning Hit-And-Run In Detroit

Police said the driver of the other vehicle was drunk and has been arrested.

DETROIT, MI — One person died early Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run crash at I-75 and Seven Mile Road in Detroit, according to Michigan State Police.

Police said that around 1:20 a.m., troopers responded to southbound I-75 and Seven Mile following reports for a vehicle that crashed into an embankment.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they said they found a man laying in the roadway. A Dodge Challenger with heavy front end damage and a severely damaged motorcycle were also found near the victim, police said.

Police said investigation revealed that the Challenger was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the motorcycle, causing its rider to be separated from the vehicle. The occupants of the Challenger ran from the scene, police said.

Police later said the driver of the Challenger was located and arrested. Police said the driver was drunk during the crash.

The motorcycle rider died at the scene, police said. Their name has not been released.

Police said excessive speed is a factor in the crash and the crash remains under investigation.
