MSP: 13 Detroit-Area Freeway Shootings In Past 3 Weeks
Nine of the shootings have been considered road rage-related, prompting MSP to issue warnings on social media about de-escalation.
MICHIGAN — Michigan State Police detectives are investigating 13 recent freeway shootings that have taken place in the Detroit area over the past three weeks, MSP Lt. Mike Shaw said Wednesday morning.
Shaw said of the 13 incidents, two have been ruled as homicides and one remains undetermined. Another was tied to a gang-related incident that spilled over onto a Detroit freeway, Shaw said.
"People need to remember that the freeway is just an extension of the city," he said. "A lot of the things we respond to started (in the city). Bad guys use the freeway to get around, too."

One recent post said that when confronted with someone who thinks the road "is only theirs," drivers should just "let it go," playing off the hit Disney movie Frozen.
So, you are driving along and you find yourself next to one of those drivers, you know the road is only theirs type, what should you do? First thing is Do Not Engage with them. You aren't going to change their mind or control them. Ignore them. They aren't worth it. #Letitgo pic.twitter.com/S8xceNBXfk

"Usually what happens is someone gets mad about something, but now it's going a step further where people are actually firing rounds," Shaw said. "It's just not worth it."
