Rain, Snow Expected This Weekend: Metro Detroit Weather

METRO DETROIT — A significant wintry mix system is expected to hammer southeastern Michigan this weekend with snow and rain, according to the National Weather Service.

The system is expected to move into the region Saturday morning, with a chance to dump between 1 and 3 inches of fresh snow, according to the weather service.

With highs expected to be in the 30s Saturday morning, rain can cut into those snow totals, making the event more of a wintry mix through the morning hours, according to the weather service.

But if temperatures stay on the cooler side, some areas across southeastern Michigan can see more than 4 inches of snow Saturday, according to the weather service.

The wintry weather should move out of the region by Saturday night when temperatures across southeastern Michigan plummet into the teens, according to the weather service.

Temperatures will get even colder from there, as an Arctic air mass swoops down into the region, pushing highs into the single digits with wind chills dropping 25 degrees below zero by next week, according to the weather service.
