Rain/Snow Mix, -25 Wind Chills: MI Weather

Forecasters expect up to 2 inches of snow across southeastern Michigan​ through Saturday morning.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Accumulating snow is possible this weekend across southeastern Michigan before Arctic air moves into the area and pushes temperatures 20 degrees below average, according to the National Weather Service.

A widespread rain/snow system is expected to move into the southeastern Michigan region Friday night and continue through Saturday morning, according to the weather service.

Forecasters expect up to 2 inches of fresh snow across southeastern Michigan through Saturday morning if temperatures stay on the cooler side. But if the changeover to rain happens sooner, rain will cut into those snow totals and bring them down to roughly a half-inch up of snow in most areas, according to the weather service.

The Arctic air will move into the southeastern Michigan area Sunday, keeping highs in the teens and lows near zero degrees, according to the weather service.

It will get even colder from there, as morning lows will drop below zero degrees with wind chills falling 15 to 25 degrees below zero Monday through Wednesday, according to the weather service.

Highs will be in single digits Monday and Tuesday with wind chill readings below zero degrees throughout the day, according to the weather service.
