The dog was discovered by a neighbor who contacted Detroit Animal Care and Control, prosecutors said. The dog's body was recovered by officers, who gave it to investigators from the Michigan Humane Society and the Detroit Police Department, the prosecutors office said. The investigation led to the identification and arrest of Roby two days later.
Roby was arraigned Wednesday in 36th District Court, prosecutors said. Bail was set at $25,000, prosecutors said. Roby will appear in court again Friday, prosecutors said.
