Student Eats Lucky Charms Out Of Michigan Pothole
An Eastern Michigan student filled a Trenton pothole with an entire gallon of milk and a box of Lucky Charms.

TRENTON, MI – An Eastern Michigan student put one of the state's deepest potholes to good use, filling one Trenton car killer with milk and cereal and videotaping himself eating some of the breakfast of not-champions. The 22-year-old who's just going by the first name Andrew, conceived the prank, and quickly found a pothole deep enough for a full box of cereal and a whole gallon of milk. The video was initially posted to Snapchat, and after Andrew's roommate moved things to Twitter Wednesday, the stunt went viral, garnering attention from news outlets all over the state.
By Friday, Andrew's viral Twitter video had gotten over 5680 likes and 1516 retweets. Andrew isn’t unique in noting the issue of potholes in the state. MDOT says the state has spent $78 million fixing potholes in since 2008, and cites “a combination of aging pavements and more severe winters” for the escalating costs. In February after flooding in the area, a ramp near St. Clair Shores was closed when potholes disabled 15 cars in less than an hour, and Macomb County’s newly unveiled interactive road work tool shows that county roads need roughly $1 billion in repairs.
Like Andrew, area businesses are making the most of this rocky, muddy, expensive situation. Belle Tire is offering a $120 rebate on tires purchased between March 19 and March 24, and Shelby Township ice cream chain Ashby’s Sterling created Michigan Pothole ice cream in honor of some of the country’s most impressive road hazards. Farmhouse Coffee & Ice Cream in Franklin took things a step further. The shop carries Ashby’s Sterling ice cream, and offered anyone with a receipt for pothole damage a free scoop of, well, Pothole.
