Detroit Patch launched eight years ago this fall. We've come a long way, and you're a big reason why.

In August, Detroit Patch recorded 70,794 visitors. Our visitors hail from the city itself, for sure, but many residents of metro Detroit and across Michigan also land on the Detroit Patch too. That figure — compiled and verified through Google Analytics — includes readers on desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile and our app, and our visitors often access Patch on several devices over the month.

I'm Jessica Strachan, your local editor and Detroit is my community, too. I live in the city’s West Village neighborhood, am a University of Michigan graduate, globe trotter and dog mom to the sweetest rescue beagle named Virginia Woof (yes, a writer pun). I’ve grown up around metro Detroit and love our sprawling metropolis of different city centers.

I’ve been at Detroit Patch now for six months and the best is yet to come. For now, I’m hoping you’ll send me your tips, ideas and questions at ###a>jessica.strachan@patch.com. Let’s start a conversation.
