Viral Video Shows Worker Spitting On Pizza At Comerica Park

DETROIT, MI — A food service worker at Comerica Park has been fired after a video was posted online and went viral, allegedly showing him spitting on a pizza. By Tuesday morning the post had been removed from Instagram.

WXYZ-TV reports the video was visible on Instagram over the weekend and shows an employee spitting on the pizza intended for customers. WWJ-AM reported that officials at the home of the Detroit Tigers determined the video was recorded Friday, when the team hosted the Kansas City Royals.
Detroit Sportservice, which provides food service at the ballpark, says in a statement that it closed down the stand.

“As soon as we became aware through social media of potential food tampering Friday night, we immediately closed that food stand and disposed of all the product. Food safety is our top priority and we will take any appropriate action necessary to protect our guests,” Detroit Sportservice said.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said officials expect to arraign the man Tuesday.
