Wayne County Man Accused In Shooting Investigation

A 76-year-old Wayne County man faces assault charges in the non-fatal shooting of a Wayne woman on Tuesday, prosecutors said.

INKSTER, MI — A 76-year-old Wayne County man faces assault charges in the non-fatal shooting of a Wayne woman on Tuesday, the Wayne County prosecutor's office said.

James Lauther Moore, of Inkster, is charged with one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, one count of felonious assault and three counts of felony firearm, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors allege that Moore shot a 27-year-old woman who visited his Helen Street home in Inkster to gather life insurance information in the knee. The shooting took place after Moore yelled at the woman during an argument, prosecutors said.

After being shot, the woman was able to flag down police and was treated at a local hospital, prosecutors said.
