Wayne County Man Accused Of Shooting At Police Officers

RIVERVIEW, MI — A 31-year-old Riverview man faces assault charges after prosecutors in Wayne County accused him of shooting at police with a semi-automatic rifle.

Daniel Ireland appeared before 27th District Court Judge Elizabeth DiSanto Tuesday where he was arraigned on 30 counts, including:

• two counts of assault with intent to murder
• two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm
• one Count of discharge of a firearm at an occupied building
• two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm,
• One count of felon in possession of a rifle
• two counts of felon in possession of a pistol
• one count of felon in possession of ammunition
• two counts of felonious assault
• one count of use of body armor during a violent felony
• one count of malicious destruction of police property
• one count of resisting and obstructing the police
• fourteen counts of felony firearm

Ireland was given a $1 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on April 9.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutors Office, Riverview police officers responded to a home in the 14800 block of Shenandoah Drive a little before 3 p.m. on Saturday for a welfare check.

Prosecutors have accused Ireland of emerging from his home with a semi-automatic rifle and tactical vest when officers arrived, only to return inside the home to shoot at them.
