'White Boy Rick' To Be Released From Prison In July

Richard "White Boy Rick" Wershe Jr. will be released from prison in July, three months earlier than his most recent release date.

DETROIT, MI — Richard "White Boy Rick" Wershe Jr. will be released from prison in July, three months earlier than his most recent release date, according to reports.

The Detroit Free Press reported that Wershe has been lodged in a Florida prison for nearly 30 years after being sentenced for drug charges.

The 50-year-old Wershe grew up on Detroit's east side and was an FBI informant at just 14 years old, the Free Press reported. He helped officials bust a cocaine trafficking ring, but was sentenced to life in prison without parole by age 19 after being caught with 16 pounds of cocaine, the Free Press Reported.

He was in a Michigan prison for nearly 30 years before being granted parole, however he was then shipped to Florida to serve a prison term on racketeering charges, the Free Press Reported.
