1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts rain today, with a high near 50 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Monday night there is a chance of rain showers before 11 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29 degrees.

2. Dexter Village Council meeting

The Dexter Village Council will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Dexter Senior Center. The meeting agenda is available on the village's new website, http://www.dextermi.gov.

5. This day in history

March 11, 1985: Capping his rapid rise through the Communist Party hierarchy, Mikhail Gorbachev was selected as the new general secretary and leader of the Soviet Union on this day in 1985, following the death of Konstantin Chernenko the day before.
