12 Hurt, Including 4 Cops, In Oakland County House Fire: Fire Chief
Officials said the victims are related and are between 5 months to 27 years old.
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A dozen people, including four police officers, were injured in a Tuesday morning house fire in Farmington Hills, according to fire officials.
The fire happened at 5 a.m. at a home near 10 Mile and Middlebelt roads in Farmington Hills, Fire Chief Jon Unruh told reporters early Tuesday morning.
When responding police officers arrived at the scene, they learned people were still trapped inside the burning home, Unruh said.

Officers then rescued eight people from the burning home and quickly extinguished the blaze, Unruh said.
All eight suffered from smoke inhalation, but none were burned, Unruh said.

They were all taken to a nearby hospital where three are in serious condition and five are in good condition, Unruh said.
Overall, Unruh said all 12 victims are related and are between 5 months to 27 years old. He added all of those in serious condition are adults.
"Four officers made entry into the home and made several rescues," Unruh said. "They made a very heroic rescue."
Unruh said investigators believe the fire started in a bedroom. He added the home did not have any working smoke alarms.
Unruh said the house is a total loss.
