2016 Farmington Memorial Day Parade: What You Need to Know

Does your nonprofit group want to march in the 2016 Memorial Day Parade? Are you interested in volunteering?

FARMINGTON, MI – Memorial Day is Monday, May 30, 2016.

In the Farmington and Farmington Hills communities for the last 46 years, the holiday has included a parade and somber remembrance of and tribute to fallen heroes who died in active military service, veterans, and active service men and women.

Here are seven things you need to know about the 2016 Memorial Day Parade:

Sponsors: The Groves Walker American Legion Post 346 and the Xemplar Club of Farmington/Farmington Hills are co-sponsors.

Time: The parade starts at 10 a.m.

Who Should Attend: People of all ages.

Route: The parade starts near the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Orchard Lake Road, and will travel one mile west on Grand River to Oakland Avenue.

Ceremony: A ceremony will take place at the end of the parade route at the Farmington War Memorial Monument in Memorial Park. It will feature both Honor and Color Guards and remarks from high ranking officials from various branches of military service.

Getting Involved: The parade committee is looking for volunteers to help organize and manage the parade and ceremony. Reach out here. Local non-profit and civic organizations are encouraged to march in the parade and may register here.
