Axe-Wielding Man Robs Oakland Co. Bank, Hits Employee: Police
Officers arrested the man shortly after the robbery and attack, according to police.
SOUTHFIELD, MI — A man has been arrested after one person was injured during a bank robbery in Oakland County on Tuesday, according to police.
The incident happened at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at a bank near the intersection of 12 Mile and Franklin roads in Southfield, according to police.
Police said the 55-year-old Southfield man walked into the bank while carrying an axe and demanded money. After receiving the cash, he hit an employee in the head with the axe and then left the bank, according to police.

The bank employee was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to survive, according to police.
Officers tracked the suspect to the Greenfield and Joy roads area in Detroit where they arrested him roughly an hour after the robbery, according to police.
