Farmington Family YMCA Opens New Fitness Center

Officials from Farmington Hills and across the state gathered for the ribbon cutting Friday.

The Farmington Family YMCA opened its new fitness center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday. Kyle Anderson, executive director of the Y says members have enjoyed the completed updates for two months, but that the ceremony was a great way to make people aware of changes and to show off the work to community members and leaders.

Anderson told Hometown Life that three fitness areas had undergone complete renovations, including the training room, the power and weight room, and the Healthy Living Center, which now offers 50 new pieces of cardio and strength training equipment. Some of the equipment is linked to apps that allows users to track fitness and get data on their progress.

DState Rep. Christine Greig was on hand at the event, and presented a tribute letter to the Y for its half century of service to Farmington. Farmington Hills Mayor Pro Tem Richard Lerner also attended the ceremony, telling Hometown Life he’s already making full use of the upgrades as a new Y member.
