Farmington Hills' Free Summer Concerts Begin June 23

The 'Stars in the Park' summer concert series will last through August 18.

Another lineup of free summer concerts will begin Thursday, June 23 at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills, according to a news release. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held at the Costick Center located at 28600 Eleven Mile Road.

All concerts take place on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. and last until approximately 8:30 p.m. Concert goers are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic dinner. 

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services will offer two random drawings for concert goers to win a Mercedes-Benz driving experience. Attendees who are 21 years or older with a valid U.S. driver’s license may enter the random drawing raffle by visiting the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services vehicle display at Heritage Park during each summer concert. One entry per person may be submitted at each concert, giving regular attendees more chances to win. The winners will be awarded the use of a Mercedes-Benz E350 for one week.

June 23 - Teddy Petty & The Refugees

As the opening act for the 2016 Stars in the Park Series, this ultimate tribute band to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers is presented by top industry professionals. Be ready to feel the power and passion that went into Tom Petty’s best-selling songs, hear the smooth guitar tones and harmonized vocals, and enjoy a show that features the look and feel of Tom Petty!

June 30 - Atlas Jazz with Anna Givens

With an incredible musical background, Atlas Jazz with Anna Givens is sure to capture the Stars in the Park audience with their talent. From touring with the Spinners to performing with the Temptations and Four Tops, there is no question that members of this group have an impressive resume. These performers have the skill to cover material from straight ahead jazz to smooth jazz to R&B to rock.  Atlas Jazz with Anna Givens will surely delight concert goers with an outstanding and brilliant concert!

July 7 - Farmington Community Concert Band

The Farmington Community Band presents a classic summer band concert with the impressive sounds of the 90-piece FCB Concert Band under the direction of Damien Crutcher. Enjoy an evening of fine entertainment featuring a wonderful variety of popular music, concert band classics, and great marches.

July 14 - High School Night

New to the Stars in the Park series, High School Concert Night will include performances by various high school aged bands/individuals from Metro Detroit. Come hear the young exciting talent that Southeastern Michigan has to offer!

July 21 - Indian Musical Extravaganza

This extravaganza will represent the musical Spirit of India with entertaining and upbeat performances. The show will incorporate dances that originated from different areas of India (Bhangra – from Punjab, Garba – from Gujarat, Lavani – from Maharashtra, etc.), but will also include popular “foot-tapping” Bollywood film industry hits.

July 28 - Farmington Community Big Band

The Farmington Community Band music organization presents “Swing in the Park” with the amazing sounds of the 20-piece FCB Big Band under the direction of Randy Barber. Enjoy an evening rich with the music of the big band era featuring great standards, popular tunes with a talented vocalist, and a little swing.

August 4 - Farmington community Chorus

Established 36 years ago and comprised of close to 70 singers, the Farmington Community Chorus returns to the Stars in the Park Stage. The FCC concert will feature full chorus, smaller group, and solo performances. The group is accompanied by keyboards, as well as bass, drums, and woodwinds.

August 11 - Annabelle Road

With the heart to keep a crowd hanging on every note, Annabelle Road has tapped Motor City’s rich musical well via Butcher Holler. This band flawlessly connects the best of rock and country to their polished originals. Picked as “Next Big Star” finalists on Kenny Chesney’s “Poets & Pirates” tour, Annabelle Road is sure to provide an incredible experience that you won’t want to miss!

August 18 - The Brian Alexander Band

Comprising a collection of musicians and singers, The Brian Alexander Band is the ultimate party band. Music ranging from the sixties to current guarantees you won’t want to miss this incredible performance. Having performed for Presidential Inaugural events, this band is a talented contribution to Stars in the Park and an excellent finale for the 2016 season!
