Learn How to Save a Life in Farmington Hills
Upcoming classes offer instruction in CPR techniques and self-defense.

The City of Farmington Hills offers three upcoming classes that will allow local residents to learn more about self-defense and emergency rescue techniques:Β
1.Β Professional Rescuer CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers
The Aug. 28Β class is open only to professional respondersΒ and will be held at Fire Station #4, 28711 Drake Road. A $50 fee will cover the cost of the certification class and all materials. ThisΒ American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED (Automated External Defibrillator) class will be held Sept. 12,Β 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Fire Station #4.Β Additional training in Pediatric CPR/AED and/or First Aid will also be available at no extra cost. A $10 fee will cover the cost of the class and materials, or $30 forΒ American Red Cross certification. Registration and feesΒ must be received by Sept. 5. 3. Women's Self-Defense Seminar
Held Sept. 7, 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at the Costick Center on 11Β Mile Road, this classΒ will be taught by Jeff Duncan, master instructor and sixth degree black belt; his wife Connie, second degree black belt and chief instructor; and additional female black belt instructors from Farmington Martial Arts. Through a series of close-range drills, women will learn both situational awareness skills and self-defense skills. To register (required),Β call 248-473-1800.
