Heat Advisory Continues Today, Thunderstorms Move in Tonight

The record-breaking heat continues today in southeast Michigan, where a heat advisory continues to be in effect for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties until 10 p.m.


Temperatures will range from 91 to 95 degrees this afternoon, before a cold front moves in, bringing with it thunderstorms that could become severe.

According to the National Weather Service, the storms could have damaging winds of up to 60 miles per hour and could produce heavy rainfall.

The storm warning is in effect for Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Livingston, St. Clair, Lapeer, Shiawassee, Lenawee and Monroe counties.

Heat exhaustion, heat stroke, muscle cramps and sunburns are possible hazards in hot weather.

The National Weather Service advises people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning and out of the sun and to check on relatives and neighbors.

The service also warns people to be extra vigilant about making sure children and pets are not left unattended in cars, in these or any circumstances.
