Man Arrested In Armed Standoff In Oakland County: Police
Police determined the 40-year-old man fired eight shots from inside the home.
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A man was arrested Sunday in connection with an armed standoff with officers in Oakland County, according to police.
The incident happened at 9 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 26000 block of Barbados Road in Farmington Hills, according to police.
Aaron Gilmore, 40, of Farmington Hills, was charged with discharge of a firearm in a building and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He pleaded not guilty Monday and was placed in the Oakland County Jail with a $25,000 bond.

Police said Gilmore's mother called 911 and told officials that her son was out of control and possibly experiencing a mental health episode. She also told them that Gilmore had begun to indiscriminately fire a handgun inside the home, according to police.
Gilmore’s mother, the only other occupant of the home, managed to escape through a bedroom window with the assistance of responding officers, according to police.

Officers surrounded the home and took cover as they heard additional gunshots coming from inside the home, according to police.
Officers used a cell phone to talk to Gilmore and were able to de-escalate the situation, according to police.
Gilmore eventually walked out of the home and surrendered to officers, according to police.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and found several handguns, long guns and ammunition. They determined that eight shots were fired inside the home, none of which exited the home, according to police.
"We are thankful that the quick response of our officers, the tactics used and their efforts to de-escalate this dangerous situation resulted in the peaceful resolution of this incident," said Farmington Hills Police Chief John Piggott.
