Memorial Day 2016: What's Open, What's Closed in Farmington

You can still mail a letter if you need to. You won't be able to swim at the Costick Center. What should you do about overdue books?

FARMINGTON, MI – If you're staying in town this Memorial Day Weekend, you won't be able to visit either of the Farmington Community Library branches, but you can still buy postage.

If you were planning on taking in a swim at the Costick Center pool, you’re out of look. It’s closed for normal operations Friday through Monday, but if you’re part of a special event or training, that’s still on.

Here's a look at what's open and what's not on Memorial Day:

  • All city offices in both Farmington and Farmington Hills will be closed.
  • Farmington Public Schools are closed.
  • The Costick Center is closed.
  • While post office branches in and are closed and there won't be any mail delivery on Monday, you can use automated mailing centers in their lobbies to weigh letters and packages, and buy postage.
  • Both the Main Library on 12 Mile Road in Farmington Hills and the branch on Liberty Street in Farmington are closed Saturday through Monday. You can always drop off your books, CDs, DVDs and other materials at the drive up return on 12 Mile, or the drop box at the Farmington branch.
  • Most major retailers, drug stores and grocery stores are open on Memorial Day, but some have special hours of operation. Before you head out, it’s a good idea to call ahead.
