Oakland County Cop, 2 Others Injured In Drunken Driving Crash: Police

Police said multiple cars were involved in the crash.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A suspected drunken driver was arrested early Sunday after causing a multi-car crash that injured three, including an officer, in Oakland County, according to police.

The crash happened at 1 a.m. Sunday on Grand River Avenue near Drake Road in Farmington Hills, according to police.

Police said a driver was moving east on Grand River Avenue and smashed into the back of a police car that was conducting a traffic stop. That driver's car then spun into traffic and was hit head-on by another driver who was also going eastbound, according to police.

The officer and two other drivers were taken to a nearby hospital and were expected to make a full recovery, according to police.

The at-fault driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to police.

Police were still investigating the crash.

"We are grateful no one was seriously injured or killed in this crash," the Farmington Police Department said. "We would like to thank the Farmington Hills Police and Fire Departments for the care they provided for our officer and the other drivers."
