Oakland County Road Worker Killed, 2 Hurt In Crash: Police
Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the crash.
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — An Oakland County road worker was killed and two others were injured in a Wednesday morning crash, according to police.
The crash happened at roughly 11 a.m. Wednesday on Orchard Lake Road between 10 Mile and 11 Mile roads in Farmington Hills, according to police.
Police said a Ford Escape was moving south on Orchard Lake when it left its lane and crossed the median and struck three workers, who were working on a sewer line in the northbound lane.

One road worker was killed and two other workers were seriously injured in the crash, according to police.
The driver of the Escape was also injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital, according to police.

Police said the work crew was legally parked and had the appropriate emergency lights, warning lights and cones, but the vehicle still hit the workers.
Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the crash and whether drugs, alcohol or a medical emergency played a role in the crash.
"Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased. We also extend our thoughts and prayers to the injured crew members and their families as they continue to receive medical attention, along with the entire Road Commission for Oakland County family affected by this tragic incident," said Farmington Hills Police Chief John Piggott. "Our Traffic Safety Section is actively investigating the factors that contributed to the crash."
As of Wednesday afternoon, the roadway was shut down in both directions as crews investigated the scene.
