Part Of I-696 In Oakland County Closing Down This Weekend
Crews are closing the freeway to prepare for a traffic shift as part of the Interstate 696 Rebuilding Michigan project.
OAKLAND COUNTY, MI ā Crews will close westbound Interstate 696 between Telegraph Road and Interstate 275 Friday night through the weekend to prepare for a traffic shift, the Michigan Department of Transportation said.
The freeway will close down Friday at 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday morning, officials said.
Once the freeway reopens, the westbound lanes will have two lanes open through late fall, officials said.

The Orchard Lake Road ramp to westbound Interstate 696 will remain closed through late fall, officials said.
Starting March 10, the eastbound lanes on Interstate 696 will be shifted over to the westbound lanes with two lanes open in each direction, officials said.

The work is part of the $275 million Interstate 696 Rebuilding Michigan project that is rebuilding eastbound Interstate 696 from Interstate 275 to Evergreen Road.
