Players Barn Presents Young Classical Musician Showcase Jan. 14

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online, over the phone, and in person. The showcase begins at 7:30 pm.

From Farmington Hills Cultural Arts: On January 14, the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Farmington Hills Special Services Department will present the Young Classical Musician Showcase at the Farmington Players Barn Theatre beginning at 7:30 p.m.

This special event will feature the music of:

  • Jeffrey Bell, a senior at Harrison High School, has been playing piano since he was four and is active in concert and symphony band; is the drum major and saxophonist in the marching band; is a choir accompanist; plays bass in the Madrigal Choir and Concert Choir; and has had lead roles in school musicals. He won first place in piano for the past two years in the Farmington Musicale competition. He will be performing Ballade No. 3 in A-Flat Major by Frederic Chopin and Suite de Danzas Criollas by Alberto Ginastera
  • Owen Hobson, a junior at North Farmington High School, is an active member of the North Farmington Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras and is principal bass for the Oakland Youth Orchestra’s Symphony Orchestra. He has been playing the string bass since fifth grade. He has participated in the Michigan All State Orchestra for the last five years and has won numerous awards. He will be performing Elegy by Bottesini, Bottesini Concerto #2, and two movements from Bach Suite #1 in G for Solo Cello (on the bass)
  • Jubilee Wang is a ninth grader at North Farmington High School. An avid pianist, she was a top prize winner in the Michigan Music Teachers Association (MMTA) Concerto Competition, MMTA Student Achievement Testing State Finals, and Albion College International Piano Festival. She made her orchestral debut in 2016 as the winner of the Dearborn Symphony Youth Artists Solo Competition. She will be performing Impromptu Opus 142 Number 3 in B flat Major by Franz Schubert and Rondo Capriccioso Opus 14 by Felix Mendelssohn.
  • Susie Lee started playing the violin at the age of five and is now a freshman at North Farmington High School. She has won a scholarship award from the Farmington Musicale and MMTA. Susie will be performing Mendelssohn Violin Concerto E Minor Opus 64 First Movement.
  • The Warner Viking Wildcat Strings are an honors group selected by audition from members of the Warner Middle School Orchestra Program. The students meet for 30 minutes each day, and perform at school concerts, clinics, and community events. Their program will include the Brandenburg Concerto #1 First Movement, and selections from J.S. Bach, Minotaur, and Richard Meyer.
  • The North Farmington High School Trio will also perform a selection of music to be announced.

The Farmington Players Barn Theatre is located at 32332 W. Eleven Mile Road in Farmington Hills. Tickets are $10 for all ages and are available at https://recreg.fhgov.com, by calling 248-473-1848, or in person at the Costick Center located at 28600 W. Eleven Mile in Farmington Hills.
