SOUTHFIELD, MI — A popular Detroit dog park and bar is expanding to Oakland County.
Barkside dog park and bar, which opened in Detroit’s West Village neighborhood in 2023, is planning to open a second location in Southfield this summer.
The new spot, which will be on 11 Mile near Greenfield, will feature a 7,000 square foot outdoor yard, which will include an area specifically for small dogs. There will also be a 6,000 square foot indoor yard for off-leash play.

For the people, there will be an indoor facility with a full bar that will serve beer, craft cocktails, wine, coffee service and other nonalcoholic drinks. It will also have Wi-Fi and televisions, along with events, such as movie nights, trivia, dog yoga, puppy training classes, and more.
"Our vision for Barkside has always been about more than just a bar or a dog park. It’s about creating a place where dog lovers and dogs can safely socialize, unwind, and have fun," said founders Cody Williams and David Oh in a statement. "Southfield’s central location makes it the perfect spot to bring Barkside’s unique concept and strong sense of community to even more Metro Detroit dog lovers."

Dogs must be at least six months and up-to-date on several shots and vaccinations to play in the yard. They must be spayed or neutered if they’re a year or older.
Those with a membership at Barkside Detroit can use it at the new Southfield location. Memberships are $40 a month or $375 a year, and day passes are also available.
Barkside is open to the public, meaning you do not need a dog to enter the facility.
