Presidents Day 2016: What's Open, What's Closed in Farmington Area

Depending on whether you live in Farmington or Farmington Hills, city hall and other government offices are closed.

FARMINGTON, MI – Monday’s celebration of Presidents Day, which was formerly known as Washington’s Birthday, means you may see some interruption in service.

Most government offices, including city offices in Farmington Hills, will be closed in observance of Presidents Day on Monday, Feb. 15. However, Farmington City Hall is open, and the City Council will meet as scheduled at 7 p.m.

Collection of trash and recyclables will go on as usual on Monday; the holiday does not change the week’s schedule in Farmington or Farmington Hills.

Both the Main Library and the Farmington branch of the Farmington Community Library will be open Monday.

Presidents Day is a federal holiday, so that means there won’t be any mail delivery. U.S. Post Office branches in Farmington and Farmington Hills will be closed. Both have Automated Postal Centers, which allow customers to weigh and purchase postage for letters and packages by using a credit or debit card.

The 47th District Court will be closed.

Presidents Day is a national bank holiday, your bank — especially large banks like wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America and Citibank —may be open. Call ahead before you head out.

Farmington Public Schools are closed on Presidents Day, as well as on Feb. 16, for winter break. School will be back in session on Feb. 17.
