Red Wings Meet Fans, Boost Kettle Drive in Farmington Hills

Detroit Red Wings Jonas Gustavsson and Darren Helm met with fans and autographed photos and memorabilia Friday in Farmington Hills, as part of a friendly competition to boost Salvation Army Kettle Drive donations.

The Wings stood in the entry at Kroger, 11 Mile and Middlebelt Roads from shortly after 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For each autograph, fans tucked $10 into the store's red kettle.

The players and Red Wings staff competed in teams at a number of metro Detroit locations to earn bragging rights for the most money raised on Dec. 13. The Salvation Army's red kettles will also be posted for an hour and a half before the puck drop at Joe Louis Arena, for Red Wings games on Dec. 14, 17, 19 and 23.
