See Classic Cars, Help Job-Seekers at The Shirt Box Saturday
The Farmington Hills business hosts a benefit to provide clothing for unemployed job-seekers.

If you missed the Woodward Dream Cruise, or just can't get enough of cars, visit Cars and Clothes for a Cause Saturday, Aug. 24, at The Shirt Box on Northwestern Highway in Farmington Hills.Β
Held from 12 p.m.-3 p.m., the store's secondΒ mini car show will benefit Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO), a nonprofit human service agency in Detroit. Featured autos include aΒ 1970 Mercedes SEL and a 1996 Camaro Z28 SS.
Show winners will receive gift certificates to Jeremy Restaurant & Bar in Keego Harbor courtesy of Jeremy Restaurant & Bar.
In place of an admission charge for spectators, attendees are encouraged to bring a gently used dress shirt, pair of slacks, tie or sports coat to donate. All donations will benefitΒ NSOβs clothing closet, which helps provide apparel for unemployed jobseekers and supports them in making the transition back into the workforce.Β
In exchange for the donation, The Shirt Box will offer $5 off any purchase made at the The Shirt Box on the day of the car show, on a one-to-one exchange basis.
βWe thought this was a great way for our friends to get an up close look at some of the hot rods and classic cars they have seen around town this summer, while supporting a cause that is very close to our hearts and very much in need,β said Shirt Box co-owner Ron Elkus. βWe feel this is a great opportunity for those individuals who were out of town and missed the larger cruise on Woodward Avenue or just did not want to deal with the congestion of going to a larger show. We have plenty of parking and we look forward to seeing everyone. Bring on the donations.β
NSO, aΒ nonprofit human service agency,Β strengthens and empowers communities, keeps families together, and helps people in need through a diverse array of programs and services.Β Many of their programs work with individuals on a daily basis to help them overcome personal obstacles and prepare for potential job interviews.
Classic car owners may still register their vehicles by calling The Shirt Box. Organizers suggest that each vehicle registered be accompanied by a donation of an item of clothing. A very casual, complimentary lunch will be served during the event to guests on a first come, first served basis.Β
The Shirt Box is located at 32500 Northwestern Hwy., Farmington Hills.
