'Seussical' Audition Schedule Announced

If you've always wanted to play The Cat in the Hat and other beloved Dr. Seuss characters, this is your chance.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – Auditions will be held this coming weekend for the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre’s spring production of “Seussical.”

Open auditions will be held from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, and 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at the Costick Center, 28600 W. 11 Mile Road.

“Seussical,” currently one of the most performed shows in America, is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza bringing to life favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and JoJo, a little boy with a big imagination.

Auditions are open to both residents and non-residents and participants may drop in anytime during the designated hours.

Auditions are easy, friendly and require no prior preparation. Participants are asked to bring a recent photo to auditions; all other materials are supplied. Additional information is available on the Youth Theatre’s website.

“Seussical” will be performed May 5 - 8 with one performance on Thursday and Friday, and two performances on both Saturday and Sunday. Rehearsal dates and times vary from Jan. 27 to May 4, with leading roles requiring more rehearsals than supporting roles. Cast members can expect at least two rehearsals per week.

Actors cast in the show need to pay a registration fee and attend a mandatory parent meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28 at the Costick Center.

“Seussical” is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International (MTI).
