Still Time to Have Fun This Summer in Farmington and Farmington Hills
We've found five fun events and activities for kids to enjoy before heading back to school Sept. 3.
While summer vacation is winding down, kids can still have plenty of fun in Farmington and Farmington Hills this month.
Here are five of the activities we found; feel free to add your own suggestions with a comment:
1. Family Fun Fest
This carnival will run August 15 and 16, 5 p.m.-11 p.m., Aug. 17, 12 p.m.-11 p.m., and Aug. 18, 12 p.m.-9 p.m. in Founders Sports Park on Eight Mile Road west of Gill. Enjoy everything from spectacular thrill rides and kiddie rides to midway games, and delicious carnival food. Discounted ride tickets are available all over town or at www.elliottsamusements.com.2. Family Fun in Riley Park
The Wanna Bees close out this summer concert series on Aug. 21, with a free 7 p.m. concert in downtown Farmington's Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion and Riley Park on Grand River. Through music, the group introduces kids to careers they may want to try.3. Marshmallow Fly and Fry
See the City’s largest campfire ever at the annual Marshmallow Fly and Fry in Heritage Park Aug. 20, 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Hot dogs, s’mores, and drinks will be available for a small fee, then after dinner, kids line up and retrieve marshmallows dropped from the Fire Department ladder truck. 4. Splash Bash
Stop by Heritage Park Aug. 26, 6 p.m.-10 p.m. to enjoy the splash pad, bouncer, games, nature hikes, and a whole lot more during this free event. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and the movie “The Lorax” starts at 8:30 p.m. No need to register, just show up!

5. Performing Arts Camps
Three more camps happen in August for kids who love to be on stage. GLEE camp runs Aug. 12-16, Next Stage Camp, Aug. 19-23, and Farmington Hills Youth Theatre Intensive Acting and Performing Camp, August 26-29.
