Take a Ghost Walk, Meet Ghost Watchers at the Governor Warner Mansion

The third annual Governor Warner Mansion Ghost Walk, held Oct. 19, offers visitors a chance to take a walk back through time and learn more from ghostly guests at the museum on Grand River in Farmington. 

Tour the Mansion’s stately rooms and meet members of the Warner family, including the “ghosts” of Fred Warner and his wife, Rhoda, who will tell you about their lives and deaths. Other costumed mourners will describe the many traditions associated with death in the Victorian era, including rules about behavior, clothing, house decorations, foods, and superstitions. 

Attend a mourning feast in the dining room, and find out what happened to the first Baby Warner, identified on his tombstone at Oakwood Cemetery only as “Baby”.

New this year, Michigan Ghost Watchers will talk about paranormal activities they have experienced in and around southeast Michigan. The Farmington Historical Commission will sponsor a cozy fire pit, and Lansing-area story teller Anne Gnagy will share stories. For a nominal fee, Tarot card readers will be available on the Mansion side porch. 

The cost to enjoy the house and grounds, and refreshments, is $12 per person or $10 if purchased before the event at Farmington City Hall.
