'Tarzan' Musical Comes to Farmington Hills, Open Auditions Set

Beginning and seasoned actors in grades 1-12 and adults are welcome to try out Sept. 7 and 8.

Auditions for the City of Farmington Hills' production ofΒ β€œTarzan The Stage Musical,” based on Disney’s smash-hit 1999 animated film, will take place Sept. 7 and 8 at the Costick Center.

β€œWe are thrilled to be able to present this special adaptation of the classic story of Tarzan,” said Melinda Sheatzley, Director of the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre. β€œThis play is a full-fledged Broadway production, filled with great roles and an incredibly beautiful score, with music and lyrics by Phil Collins.”

Auditions are open to both beginning and seasoned actors in grades 1-12, as well asΒ adults. Participants may drop in at any time between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday. Many parts will be available in two large casts. Auditions are open to both residents and non-residents.Β 

Auditions are easy and friendly, and no prior preparation is necessary. Student participants are asked to bring a recent schoolΒ photo; all other materials are supplied. Some preliminary materials for review are available atΒ fhgov.com/YouthTheatre.

β€œTarzan The Musical” tells the story of an infant boy orphaned on the shores of West Africa, who isΒ raised by a tribe of gorillas. His life changes forever when a human expedition enters his territory, and he finally meets others like himself.

Performance dates will be spread over two weekends, including two casts performing at various times on November 15, 17, 22, 23 and 24.Β
