Two Face Drunken Driving Charges After Neighboring Incidents

The following information was provided by Farmington Hills Police. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

Two men face drunken driving charges after Farmington Hills PoliceΒ officers responding to a call in the 23000 block of Haynes Street late Sunday nightΒ chased another driver whose vehicle had been parked in the same neighborhood.Β

According to the reports, police were first called to the Haynes address, where a 46-year-old Farmington Hills man was arguing with his three sons. The report indicated that the boys told police their father became angry when they tried to take his keys, after he drove them home from a relative's home after drinking. The man refused a preliminary breath test and was taken into custody; he also faces child endangerment charges. The children were turned over to a relative.Β

While talking with the family on Haynes, officers saw a dark colored pick-up truck back into the street, then take off at a high rate of speed. The report indicated that police followed the driver to a home on Lamar in Farmington. While speaking to the 42-year-old Farmington man, police noticed a strong odor of intoxicants, and a preliminary breath test showed the man's blood alcohol level was .142, which is more than the .08 legal limit.Β

Because the man did not tell police that he had a concealed weapon in his vehicle, he faces additional charges. He also told police that he had two prior convictions for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to the report.Β
