2 Fenton Students Earn National Recognition for Composting Project

Two eighth graders at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in Fenton were recently named among eight finalist teams for the Siemens Foundation's "We Can Change The World Challenge."

Lauren Hickmott and Erin Kaye completed a composting project for a school science fair that included providing residents buckets to teach them how to compost, according to an article at mlive.com.

The We Can Change the World Challenge is a national environmental sustainability challenge that provides K-12 students the tools and inspiration to improve their schools, their communities and their world through project-based learning, according to the Siemens web site.
