Fenton AGS Middle School Remains in Secure Mode after Possible Threat Found

Fenton's Andrew G. Schmidt Middle School remains in secure mode after a possible threat was found Wednesday at the school.

At the end of school Wednesday, something suspicious was found written in the eighth-grade boys bathroom, according to a letter from AGS principal Heidie Ciesielski posted on the Fenton Schools’ website.

Fenton Police conducted a building sweep and determined the threat was low risk. The letter stated that police advised school officials to continue activities and school the next day.

“The safety of our students and staff is very important and will always be our first priority.  We will continue our secured mode throughout the day January 10, 2013 and January 11, 2013,” the letter stated.

Students were asked to leave their backpacks at home on Friday and bring any necessary items in a clear Zip-Lock bag or plastic grocery bag.

“We realize that recent events and security measures have caused some weariness and at times an inconvenience. Please know that our top priority is the safety of our students and staff. As we continue to work through this unfortunate situation your patience and understanding is sincerely appreciated,” the announcement said.
