Fenton Election: Osborn Announces She Won Tight Mayor Race

6 a.m. - Fenton Patch posted its 2011 Election guide.

7 a.m. - Polls opened at for residents and for Fenton Township residents.
8 a.m. - Fenton resident Adam Hazlett was voter no. 63 in precinct 2.
9 a.m. - Fenton Patch reported , opening up a seat for two years of a four-year term.
11 a.m. - Fenton's Precinct 4 had 103 walk-in voters and 54 absentee ballots submitted.
12:00 p.m. - Council candidates King and Lockwood wave and talk to voters at the St. John Activity Center. They said they have been in and out all day and that they expect a big turnout around 16 to 20 percent, rather than the normal 7 percent.
1 p.m. - Around 1,000 Fenton voters have cast a ballot.
2 p.m. - Election chair Elnora Pasco said it has been busy all day and expects the higher than normal turnout to continue into the evening.
2 p.m. - About 1,400 ballots cast in Fenton.
3 p.m. - Thomas Broecker, operations manager of the Lake Fenton High School election site, said it has been steady all day. He said about 21 percent of voters, including absentee ballots, had turned out by 3 p.m. and he expects a 30 percent total turnout by 8 p.m., when polls close.
3:45 p.m. - Fenton resident Brett Barker was voter 496 in precinct 1.
"It's encouraging to see this many people out voting, no matter what side of the issue they are on," Broecker said. "That's always a good thing."
5:30 p.m. - Voters are still lined up at St. John Activity Center.
8 p.m. - Polls close.
8:15 p.m. - Most candidates have gathered in Luigi's in Fenton for food, music and fun as they wait for the results.
9:00 p.m. - Fenton zoning administrator Brad Hissong belts out a tune.
9:15 p.m. - Sue Osborn announces she has beaten Tim Faricy 1101-927.
