Fenton Football Celebrates Season, Looks Toward Future
Teams in the Tigers football program, from seventh grade to varsity, lost a total of only six games.

Despite a on Saturday, you will be hard-pressed to find many dejected Fenton football players.

“The ride was great with not just teammates, but friends,” senior linebacker Joseph DeLavergne said. “Winning two district championships and playing in these big games, we will get there. It will help us in the future.”

One could argue that the varsity team wasn’t even the best Tigers squad in the program. That’s cause the entire Fenton football program, from seventh grade to varsity, lost a total of only six games. losses belonged .

“We have done this the right way,” said Fenton varsity coach Jeff Setzke. "We’ve built a program from the bottom up. Our kids are hungry. .
“This is the game you have to play in if you want to be a champion, and we are better now because of it. As disheartening as this is. We are not that far away," he said. "Our younger kids want to be back here and win it the next time.”
The , and the has yet to lose a game in their high school careers, as they also went 9-0 as freshman.
“They all play together," JV coach Mike Tokarsky said. "They love paying football. They play for each other. We don’t have any superstars."
Many of the JV players had the opportunity to practice and travel with the varsity Tigers during the playoff run.
“It was so much fun," senior Conor Muntin said. "We built an expectation to win in the playoffs and go deep. Hopefully, the younger kids up with us can carry on this tradition, and I'm pretty positive they can.”
